If you feel like you keep starting over with your health,

you are not alone.

And more importantly, you are not the problem.

Most women are not struggling from lack of knowledge.

They are struggling because nothing they have tried has worked in real life.

You have tried to do better.

You have had good weeks.

Then life happens.

Work gets busy.
Stress goes up.
Your routine breaks.

And instead of adjusting, you start over.

Again.

That cycle is exhausting.

And over time, it becomes risky.

I know this cycle personally, because I've lived it.

In 2016, I was diagnosed with prediabetes.

Like many of the women I've worked with, I never thought it would happen to me. Even after taking care of my mother, who suffered an amputation and passed away that same year due to complications with diabetes, the thought of being diagnosed as prediabetic never crossed my mind.

I thought my eating habits and activity were good enough. But when the doctor handed me the pamphlets, a prescription for "better diet and exercise," and a 3-month follow-up appointment, I knew it was real.

I remember asking myself, "How am I supposed to squeeze all of this into my busy life? There has to be more education and guidance on how to reverse this diagnosis!" I was not going to allow prediabetes to take control of my life.

The Wake-Up Call

I knew if I didn't make immediate changes, I'd follow in my mother's footsteps and be dependent on insulin for the rest of my life.

And more than likely, if nothing changed, my daughter would follow the same path, a never-ending cycle of unhealthy behavior with consequences none of us wanted.

That was not the legacy I wanted to leave. I was determined that history would NOT repeat itself.

It Was Time to Take Action

  • I got help to better understand my diagnosis.
  • I took gradual, consistent action to replace unhealthy habits with healthy ones.
  • I learned how to incorporate a healthy diet and exercise into my busy life.
  • I became so passionate about managing prediabetes that I started studying with some of the most reputable organizations to become certified as a Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach.

As a result, I lost 20 lbs and have kept it off. I successfully reversed my prediabetes diagnosis and haven't looked back. I'm healthier, happier, and determined not to let diabetes become my destiny.

What I didn't have back then was a system I could actually live with. So I stopped trying to be perfect, and started focusing on what I could repeat, even on my worst days.

That shift changed everything.

This is how Detour From Diabetes was born.
